Offset adjustable Triple Clamps Ducati
Offset adjustable Triple Clamps for Ducati 1098/1198/S/R/848.
Version without Bearings and Sealing washer for those, who have at least lower bearing/sealing on stock/at Home.
CNC machined from 7075 Aluminum.
Key Features:
- Solid Steering Angle Limiters fixed by 2 M5 Screws and exchangeable.
- Inserts for Offset-Adjustment available from 22 to 37 mm Offset
- Steering Damper Lever exchangeable, but keeps Position at different Offsets
- 30 mm Offset as Zero-Position , my recommendation to start with ( 5 mm less than OEM )
- Larger adjustment Range of front Ride-Height due to the angled Design ( 8 mm more )
- M30 x 1 Thread for high Sensitivity at Bearing-adjustment.
- Easy Adjustment of Bearing from Outside ( just use rear end of 5mm Drill, or similar)
- Extreme Precision of Inserts and Steering Stem for Zero-Play, partially Parts are polished by Hand to achieve Zero Play.
- Also Upper bearing shell will be fixed on the Adjuster-Nut for Zero Play.
- Adjustment-Range of 3-13% more Castor
- 1 Set of Offset-Inserts can be used twice ( I.E. -2mm Insert allows 28 or 32mm Offset)
- Comes already assembled
Some may know the "good old" Ducati 998/999 Feeling at cornering, when it took a bit of Force to enter the Corner, but then inside, and at acceleration the Bike was stable as a Rock. This Riding-Behavior came due to the Offset of the OEM Triples, which gave more castor ( compared to Japanese Bikes or now 1098..etc. ), and this way more
Stability.
But for the 1098 /848 Series Ducati went for less castor, so less Stability, which is ok for a Road bike and City usage, but not really for track, especially not for lightened Bikes with low rotational Inertia.
The Castor to choose depends on how heavily the Bike is lightened, on how many Rotational Inertia got lost due to maybe new Wheels, Brakediscs, Clutch.. etc., and depends a bit on Track-Layout. So the reasonable Offset Range to play with is from approx 22-37 mm, which is from +2 to -13 mm compared to OEM, or in other words -2 to +13 mm more
Castor.
Contact me if you need suggestions regarding which Offset to start with.
For WSBK the Factory-Team is using a range from 25-31mm Offset.
